Success and next assignment
Well Janey Mac, that went well! Congrats and thanks to everyone who took part.I'm amazed at how good they all were, not only that but how finished most of them were.So much so that I'll skip the rewrite part of the project. As for the zeitgeist element, did they have any common thread of Mondayitus? Well they were all quite different, a feast, a smorgesbord,a cornocopia a veritable Kentucky fried chicken of writing, all different under the same skin. From memory this five mins produced Haiku, prose, streams of conciousness, and totally complete poems(amazing!)Any themes? Again from memory(I must go back and read them all again)Rain, ranting, rhyming. But there was also humour, calm, time or lack of it and thought-or a lack of it!
I hope you all enjoyed it and got either a poem that otherwise might not have been written or the framework of an idea to build on.It would be really cool if you would all(and anyone else) join in with this weeks task which should again be posted next Monday. The idea is to sit in a cafe and write a poem/prose piece about someone else in the cafe. Not everyone will be in a cafe this week so you may have to improvise, workplace(be careful!)train, bus stop(ye can write standing up in the rain can't ye?)supermarket, pub etc etc.If you can't do it at the time maybe bring the person home with you(in your head, not physically-unless they're very attractive)and write at home.Good luck and may your God or lack of God be with you!

Hey Fecker - what great results you got there! Sorry to miss it - I was in the curdled peripheral nooks of my worklife balance and missed the whole shebang. I like Ew's and the watercats in particular.
I like the task for next week too - will give that a shot. Ciao. Good on you.
See you next Monday with my homework done!
Really enjoyed it TFE - and would I really call you a twerp?
Like next Monday's assignment. I assume we can spend all week writing it if we wish?
Why does the Republic of EEjit keep changing your header daily? Could you have a word with them please? I got to like your horses on the sea shore and they disappeared for a jolly little drawing (I presume a self-portrait -might that be an idea for another of your Monday assignments s.p. in words??) Now it is a horrible lorry with the most fantastic sky in the background. What is going on here in your communications department?
Hi PN, that's gas being called'Fecker' I was totally delighted with the reults, some genuinely good stuff there for sure.Pity you missed it but would be deadly if you joined inthenext one.
Delighted to hear that, Heather. And you've ALL WEEK to do it too!
Glad you enjoyed it Weaver,it's normally right up my street(that's why i chose it but twas nightmare here,ha ha, that will teach me to tip the odds in my favour! All week you have W for the next one, spend as long or as little as you like.Twerp isn't soi bad, Padraig Nolan just called me 'Fecker'!! The horses will be back sometime W I'm glad you liked them, it's one of my faves.Did you not think the bright yellow lorry contrasted with the dark brooding skies was an allegorical photographic representation of the calamitous cyclical boom and bust syndrome of capitalist greed. No,nor me, it's just a feckin ugly lorry isn't it?
can't wait for the next assignment!
Welcome Jessica, should be fun and interesting to see what people come up with. You joining in?
This is totally my kind of assignment: go and sit in a cafe with a notebook and watch someone. So, hello – I come via Titus, Rachel and Weaver – and count me in. I might have to wear a leather jacket. Or a hat.
We've got a tea room in the village. Top Hole!
Hello, welcome Eryl, that's great news, wear whatever ye think, just get the job done, I'm going in as a skinny latte.
Titus, sure your home and dry, unless it's raining of course.Do they allow dogs in?
All righty then, one poetic example of iconic realism comin' up, next Monday. I must say, I was thoroughly impressed that you were awake to respond to the 7:00 p.m. EST posting.
wv: batin: Batin down the hatches! The west wind's churning up a bushel of poems, heading right through TFE's screen!
You still want us to post the poem on our own blogs? Just thought it might be easier for you if I posted it right here...but it's your assignment; I'll do whatever you want, sir.
This weekend, I will be on a bus, then on a ferry. There is a cafe of sorts on the ferry. This will be a great way to spend my voyage. Am I correct in thinking that the five-minute rule is suspended for this week?
Feckin ugly lorry?? I thought it was quite cool.
This Monday assignment thing I think is great - for me (and, I suspect, others) it got loads of ideas (some of them rubbish) going: working at speed really kickstarted the brain.
Next week's all done, dusted and ready to post...
Glad to have you aboard ,Jeanne. The good ship sails Monday, post your writing right here if you like Jeanne, special dispensation! 'Batin' down the hatches, hoist the mainsail and splice me barnacles that timber is a shiverin'!
A ferry a cafe and a bus? Perfect for people watching, Sandra Leigh, take as long as you like but be sure and meet me at the harbour for the boat that leaves on Monday.Be warned,The five minute pressure cooker will ,like Arnie, BE BAAAACCCKKK !!!
It s cool really isn't it Mr Riverrun? Glad you think the Monday expeditions are a good idea, hope others do too,I have some more up my sleeve.Yours is finished-already? 10,extra points for quick work, looking forward to reading it on Monday!
Bugger - completely forgot!
Can't believe it! First P Nolan calls me Fecker then Weaver calls me Twerp and now Sara is calling me Bugger! ?
Nonetheless I forgive you for forgetting Sara but be sure and have your person watching poem in on NEXT MONDAY and try not to call them rude names until you get home.
Just a quick note to tell you a) I thought my e-mail server captured your e-mail address (but it didn't), b) I haven't been a part of things because I'm on sabbatical for the month of September c) I'm breaking my rule of not commenting for the duration of said sabbatical just for you (oh, and Rachel F too because she asked a question).
It figures, you'd come up with this brilliant scheme of getting people to write poetry, JUST as I decide to opt out for a bit.
Luv ya,
Kat
TFE - Dominic and I are in dispute. I say that because the new photograph actually says My Photo - the image is of you.
Dominic says you are too much of an enigma to put your own photo on your blog. Please put me out of my misery - is that handsome man with that flicked back hair you? If so was it taken this year, last year, sometime or twenty years ago.
Bad timing Kat,but maybe we will still be postin poetry on Mondays in Oct if we're all still kickin.Enjoy your sabbatical and thanks for dropping by to let me know,Ciao or should I say miaow?
Ooh, tricky one this Weaver, but I have to tell you that...hang on someone's at the door.
This week's effort posted!
