The league of poets
Periscope up above the clouds of their egos
Lyrical giants
Standing on the giant chips of their shoulders
Looking for another to cry on
Puffing bluff and bluster
Pipping and sqeaking
About this and that occasionally the other
To thunderous silence back-clapping
Back-stabbing at the league of poetry ball
A grand gala of glasses to lips
On faces from facebook the cult of me
Look look what I can do
The big I am’s in the big top
The poetry circus
The out of town
Clowns coming soon
To a universe near you
Periscope up above the clouds of their egos
Lyrical giants
Standing on the giant chips of their shoulders
Looking for another to cry on
Puffing bluff and bluster
Pipping and sqeaking
About this and that occasionally the other
To thunderous silence back-clapping
Back-stabbing at the league of poetry ball
A grand gala of glasses to lips
On faces from facebook the cult of me
Look look what I can do
The big I am’s in the big top
The poetry circus
The out of town
Clowns coming soon
To a universe near you

You aren't among them TFE, but your work should be. The previous poem is beautiful and poignant. I am not used to reading poetry, I must confess, but I think you are gradually educating me!
I like this one a lot. It reminds me a bit of Billy Collins' "Rival Poet".
I find tweed more comforting than spacebook, and less robotic.
That's actually a pretty cool jacket!... not being familier with poetry realms, I can only imagine your point. It's a shame 'the arts' are such a cliquey place.. as is every sector of society.. it's a scary thing to try and 'belong' and being made to feel you have to earn your place there.. nice bit of fuckyoudeetude writing here :-)
Now, now, don't be so harsh with Facebook. I write my little One Line Poems of the Day there. Sometimes they hit; sometimes they miss. But I love it when one of my local 'friends' from fb will compliment me in person.
That look in someone's eyes who has been affected by my humble poetry makes me realize that I really don't give a rat's patooty who has sent me a rejection notice. Obviously, they haven't reached that beautiful place one needs to be in order to receive my words. Do you feel similarly about your poetry?
Hey Thanks Heather! Lord I hope I don't put yuo off poetry completely!Ready for Monday?
Thanks Willow, don't know that poem/poet,will look it up.Monday??
Tweed is easier to wear and more durable too ArtSparker :)
Thanks Watercats, the jacket is on ebay if you fancy it,discount for top musicians!
There are a million exceptions to every rule, let alone poem,Your one liners are mighty fine Jeanne, facebroke just fitted coz me and it just don't seem to Gel.I feel safer here in blogland. What is a 'Rat's Patooty?' That made me smile!
In all honesty, TFE, I really don't know what a rat's patooty is, nor do I wish to know...it's just one of those crazy American phrases we throw out there to say we don't give a sh... about something. It works for me, tho. : )
You have captured a lot about poebiz right there!
Poebiz! Like it.
I also like the poem very much.
(this has nothing to do, maybe) the rumbling hanging coat made me think of other "coats", those from Gogol´s and Dostoyevsky´s stories. Gogol´s "The Overcoat", specially.
No! It's the cult of me!
No me!
No me...
x
p.s. speaking of me...I have one called 'Sea of poets' that you might like. Along similar lines.
See you tomorrow for the observed person poem!
