OI! you! THE MONDAY POEM BULLETIN

Right ,peeps of the peoples-poetry-republic-of EEjit-there-is no-wrong-writing group, listen up dudes.
THERE IS NO TIME LIMIT WRITING YOUR POEM/PROSE - ALSO JUST POST IT ON YOUR BLOG ANYTIME ON MONDAY. No 5 mins no 7pm that was back in the Pleistocene period. We've moved on, matured, developed, we ain't got no strings to tie us down,ya dig? We go wid da flow! As a unit we are floating down the path never travelled on the gossamer winds of creativity and admiring the different view. We're not in the box, we're not even thinking outside the box, we've made a new feckin box that isn't even a box ,it's a Ghtyredwsrtuuvvdtyb, okay? I'll be checking that you are ALL paying attention, not just skim reading and bluffing in the comments section. There WILL be detensions, there WILL be lines- lot's of them and if necessary there WILL be letters home to your parents. GET IT! GOT IT? GOOD? If you're all sitting still and paying attention then I'll continue,STOP fidgiting Kathleen at the back there. Now it has come to my attention that some people do not like The Boss, no not Mrs EEjit, Bruce Springsteen. This is not good, it may hamper the exercise,so I'm posting up two more songs with similar feel and hopefully there will be one that you connect with.Listen to one, or even better, listen to them all (Remember ,RELAX ,wear headphones ,have a cup of tea/ glass of champagne/ can of beer, lie on the floor, or the ceiling) then write yer doodle. If you really don't like any of these then as a last resort choose your own,it's vital that the song means something to you. Finally a warning to those of a nervous disposition, try not to look at the accompanying video to Homeward Bound.I accept no responsibility for the resultant fear of Ice cream sellers(Paul 'sprinkles' Simon) or candyfloss (Bart Carbuncle's hair) For God's sake don't look at them just listen to them, I didn't have time to track down the song without a vid,I've got a whole feckin republic to run here.God luck and may the wind always be at your back
-unless it's your own.

Fast Car by Tracy Chapman

Fast Car lyrics

You got a fast car
I want a ticket to anywhere
Maybe we make a deal
Maybe together we can get somewhere
Anyplace is better
Starting from zero got nothing to lose
Maybe we'll make something
But me myself I got nothing to prove

You got a fast car
I got a plan to get us out of here
been working at the convenience store
Managed to save just a little bit of money
We won't have to drive too far
Just 'cross the border and into the city
You and I can both get jobs
And finally see what it means to be living

You see my old man's got a problem
He live with the bottle that's the way it is
He says his body's too old for working
I say his body's too young to look like his
but mama went off and left him
She wanted more from life than he could give
I said somebody's got to take care of him
So I quit school and that's what I did

You got a fast car
is it fast enough so we can fly away
We gotta make a decision
We leave tonight or live and die this way

So remember when we were driving driving in your car
The speed so fast felt like I was drunk
City lights lay out before us
And your arm felt nice wrapped 'round my shoulder
I had a feeling that I belonged
I had a feeling I could be someone
be someone

be someone

You got a fast car
We go cruising to entertain ourselves
You still ain't got a job
And I work in a market as a checkout girl
I know things will get better
You'll find work and I'll get promoted
We'll move out of the shelter
Buy a bigger house and live in the suburbs

So remember when we were driving driving in your car
The speed so fast felt like I was drunk
City lights lay out before us
And your arm felt nice wrapped 'round my shoulder
I had a feeling that I belonged
I had a feeling I could be someone
be someone

be someone

You got fast car
And I got a job that pays all our bills
You stay out drinking late at the bar
See more of your friends than you do of your kids
I'd always hoped for a better
Thought maybe together you and me would find it
I got no plans I ain't going nowhere
So take your fast car and keep on driving

So remember when we were driving driving in your car
The speed so fast felt like I was drunk
City lights lay out before us
And your arm felt nice wrapped 'round my shoulder
I had a feeling that I belonged
I had a feeling I could be someone
be someone

be someone

You got a fast car
But is it fast enough so you can fly away
You gotta make a decision
You leave tonight or live and die this way

'Homeward Bound' by Pope Someone and Fart Daftuncle
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sI0enx_Jnqc&feature=related

I'm sittin' in the railway station
Got a ticket for my destination
On a tour of one night stands
My suitcase and guitar in hand
And every stop is neatly planned
For a poet and a one man band

Homeward bound
I wish I was
Homeward bound
Home, where my thought's escaping
Home, where my music's playing
Home, where my love lies waiting
Silently for me

Everyday's an endless stream
Of cigarettes and magazines
And each town looks the same to me
The movies and the factories
And every stranger's face I see
Reminds me that I long to be

Homeward bound
I wish I was
Homeward bound
Home, where my thought's escaping
Home, where my music's playing
Home, where my love lies waiting
Silently for me

Tonight I'll sing my songs again
I'll play the game and pretend
But all my words come back to me
In shades of mediocrity
Like emptyness in harmony
I need someone to comfort me

Homeward bound
I wish I was
Homeward bound
Home, where my thought's escaping
Home, where my music's playing
Home, where my love lies waiting
Silently for me
Silently for me
Silently for me

My Hometown by Bruce ,not the real Boss that's mrs EEj, Springsteen

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bvNUOElgmnk

was eight years old and running with a dime in my hand
Into the bus stop to pick up a paper for my old man
Id sit on his lap in that big old buick and steer as we drove through town
Hed tousle my hair and say son take a good look around
This is your hometown, this is your hometown
This is your hometown, this is your hometown

In `65 tension was running high at my high school
There was a lot of fights between the black and white
There was nothing you could do
Two cars at a light on a saturday night in the back seat there was a gun
Words were passed in a shotgun blast
Troubled times had come to my hometown
My hometown, my hometown, my hometown

Now main streets whitewashed windows and vacant stores
Seems like there aint nobody wants to come down here no more
Theyre closing down the textile mill across the railroad tracks
Foreman says these jobs are going boys and they aint coming back to
Your hometown, your hometown, your hometown, your hometown

Last night me and kate we laid in bed talking about getting out
Packing up our bags maybe heading south
Im thirty-five we got a boy of our own now
Last night I sat him up behind the wheel and said son take a good
Look around
This is your hometown

Let the words and music guide you, it doesn't matter where, keep an eye on home but the muse knows where ye are going,so follow!

Ps there is no new box really-yet!

I've tried to listen to Bruce Springstein and Simon and Carbuncle but all I got was some lovely toe-tapping Irish music!! Now that could be my ineptitude or the fact that my laptop has had a very funny turn today. However, I will write something for next Monday but you may have to make do with Frank Sinatra. Hope you aren't allergic to him!

TFE, you are unfailingly decent! I'm sure Bruce would have been fine for me, and enough of a prompt, but now you've put the Chapman up I'm swithering.
Whatever, hope to see you four days hence but I'm back off to Essex in the morn, for a while.

Hi, you eejit! I've never been here before, so I hope you don't mind my coming by. I love the Boss! Who would not? Anyway, your post inspired my latest poem - probably not what you had in mind, but it's how mine worked. Do stop by and see what you've done when you have the time.

The music will lead and I will follow, albeit down a stony path.

You must be a fast typist to write out all those lyrics!

Totalfeckineejit said...

The stony path less travelled it is then, Weaver.I type only with one fnger, tis a labour of love. (with a bit of help from my pals cut and paste!)

Did you know

Paul Simon wrote "Homeward Bound" on the platform of Widnes railway station after a small tour of the UK in the late 60s. midway between Liverpool and Manchester, near Runcorn and Warrington).

There is a small sign posted on the rail house wall.

I've never been to Widnes but I've been to Crewe station many times.

Impressive strong teacher´s tone! Well, may I say something without you sending me to detention, or reporting me with mum&dad? Lou Reed´s Dirty Boulevard also fits...

Totalfeckineejit said...

Yes, thanks Ew, I did know that, but only because it said so in the comments under the you tube clip I used! That is interesting though isn't it.Apparently a commemorative plaque was placed -subsequently stolen and Paul Spyman appealed for it's return.(Yes, I learned that on you tube too!) I guess waiting on a wet platform in Widnes would make anyone wish for home.(No offence to anyone from Widnes intended.) Doesn't every train passenger in England HAVE to change at crew even if their journey goes nowhere near it? :)

Emerging Writer said...

If you go further north than Brum, changing at Crewe is inevitable. And it'll be raining and the waiting room will be closed and the train you are waiting for will be late

Totalfeckineejit said...

You have great suggestions for songs aleph, you are top of the class ,with a gold star and no homework for the rest of the year)except the Monday poem if you fancy a go? Hint, hint ! :)

Totalfeckineejit said...

Hey ,Ew, isn't travelling fun? When I was in England I vaguely remember travelling from London (me) to Manchester(Mrs EEjit) a few times ,always on a sunday when the journey took several hours longer than the 'normal' days, and always stopped in the middle of nowhere for no apparent reason and ALWAYS changed at Crewe.(Is Crewe an actual place or just a train station?) The only beer they had was McEwans in small warm cans for £40 EACH!! Only alcoholics drink on trains. And yet I have such fond memories of inter-city trains and Manchester Piccalydiccaly station and little lit-up houses passing by with all those peoples different lives going on, in dread, or eager anticipation of monday, and I was in love and love makes the world go round and I've never drunk McEwans before or since but still and all......?
