Swiss Poetry Bus

We had some interesting photos to inspire us . This one above chose me.

Skeleton

The rays of sun that shone
lit the days of June
we basked in the light, thoughts
Paper thin, parched
Skin tight as a drum held us inside
The empty carapace of ourselves
Too young for wisdom June flamed

Unprepared for anything like the November rain
Monsoons set in like discord in harmony
to sag and wrinkle, scar crash and burn,
the Winter of ourselves
a life away but
a step nearer every day.

This photo elicits pensive and inquisitive qualities, and TFE, you capture those beautifully in your description of naiveté here in my favorite lines: 'we basked in the light, thoughts/Paper thin, parched/Skin tight as a drum held us inside/The empty carapace of ourselves.' I like the use of the words 'parch' and 'paper thin', bringing to mind parchment and that sense of time.

Oh, this is as tight as that skin.
Intense, moving, intelligent. It's like the bones of the emotion.
I really liked it.

loved this bit. Beautiful writing all over.. this is like a prequel to the easter poem...

This is great, I like the thoughts being paper thin, and being too young for wisdom.

Nice one, Peadar! I loved "the Winter of ourselves" bit particularly.

A step nearer indeed! Great stuff as usual, Eej and here's myself struggling with an empty head today.

Where was this sun in June? Not Wicklow, that's for sure.
Some great images here - particularly liked the paper thin thoughts (my kinda thoughts!)

Love your poem - it was my favourite picture but this week my mind is not in gear somehow and I couldn't think what to write. I have written a poor effort but cannot tell Swiss because I can't see how to leave a comment on his blog.
Hope your computer is behaving better now. It has certainly replicated those heads in your header!

This is really good - it took a few reads for me, but today it's crystal clear. I love that line 'too young for wisdom June flamed.' Really nice.
