Niamh B's Bus!

It's monday so it must be POETRY BUS time! I'm late. I'm dying (let's hope not literally) with a chest infection.
Any way here goes.

He’s there in the mirror.
he was always there,

waiting, punching the clock

Grinning absurdly

I was too busy, too young

Foolishly ignorant

And now he’s here

For sure, for real,

And I will learn Tolerance

I will give acceptance,

Agree to recognize him

get used to him

and though I will never

grow to like him

I must be thankful

That who I was

Is no longer here

To see

who he is yet to be.

I love this one of recognition.

Hope you feel better very soon, Peadar!

And so say all of us! Time present and time past are both contained in time future, eh?
I'd love to see the newspaper headline that inspired this!

Hope you get well soon sir.

This poem is great, deep and brooding with a touching end.

He's not that bad Peadar. I like the air of mystery your poem has and I think we can all relate to it. Hope your chest infection will soon clear up - they are so nasty. It's drinking out of wet glasses that does it!

Reminds me: I'm talking to the man in the mirror! Love this loook at who was, who is, who is yet to be.

A bit of a conundrum here Eej - but I like it.

Class, TFE. I like the punching the clock image very much and the final lines have taken me to before the Big Bang, which I have been contemplating much lately thanks to BBC2.
The mystery of us.

And look after yourself!

A thought-provoking poem, Total. I think we're all relieved that some of our former selves are no longer around, and heedless of those to come.
Get better!
The prompt for next week is up.

Well said. I think we all feel a bit of that, don't we? I know I do.

I'm an advocate of the echinacea, but as you've been sick for a while, it won't do you any good, so whisky it is!
