THE FLY HAS LANDED

Here's Jimmy the Butler with the almost life-sized bumper edition of the stinging fly
Yip, da new fly (always eagerly awaited in dis castle) was brought in by Jimmy yesterday. It took him a bit longer than usual as it is now a whopping 128 pages. In these hard days of funding cuts it's testimony to the sterling work Declan and the gang are doing that their funding actually increased this year- fair play to them. as the arts council put's it 'The Stinging Fly punches well above it's weight and has been prioritised on the basis of it's extensive and intelligent supports for writers and it's commitment to developing audiences for contemporary, high quality Irish literature.'

Hey TFE! Jimmy has such an appropriately situated stance there. Was he a model for the T-Rex on TSF cover?

Alas, my copy still hasn't arrived, yet.

Oh! No need for a hammer...but I did have to remove myself from your followers list temporarily. Did you feel my absence? ;-)

Hey Jeanne I wonder how long it takes the fly to fly to Connecticut?
I can't figure out what the figure is on the cover- is it a dinosaur or a modern craythur?Well done on fixin da picsin Pity about d'hammer though, I'd loven to knock seven shades out of me dello from hello wit one.

Jimmy's brother lives in my house but he is a lazy SOB. I regularly brandish the firelighters at him but it does no good.

Enjoy the Fly! I left feedback on the Fly Café. I'd be interested to hear what others think too.

I have a Jimmy in my stone shack - he's a pleasant chap but I feel his personality is a bit wooden at times. Lovely blog, will be looking in more depth after I've washed the cat. Tell me though, does part-time astronauting pay much?

Hey Aunt B , welcome to my humble ablog and thanks for the compliment.Had a quick look at yer own meisterwerk/ouvre and my fave poems were Haddock and Townhouse. You say yer blogo makes more sensibles than a couple of things but it makes more sense to me than most things.I don't actually have a tortoise but I do have a cousin who saw an add for a film about the Gallapagos islands once. As for astronauting here in Ireland being lucrative / Nah, sure it was great in the eighties everybody was either wired to the moon or wanted to fly to it, but now the bubble has burst and the best people can hope for is a weekend in Trabolgen.

WRW, I'll make some comments in the Cafe....if I ever get my copy. 'course now the weather folk are saying we'll be getting over a foot of snow tonight/tomorrow...so that will weigh down the wings of this fly for sure.

Ah well...
