FALLING BETWEEN THE STOOL PIGEONS

Poetry world

Always turning always spinning ,dizzy-making,
jump on,wide-eyed innocent, if you dare,
Devil may care, but that’s about all,
the thrill is the fall, my friend.
See it in their eyes another step nearer the glistering prize
It’s a bare knuckled Haiku
Three steps to heaven, perhaps immortality.
And what of the hopes of the ringside seat,
the outside looking in, the better view,
of the ego splattered canvas
showered in coins and plaudits and rubbed shoulders.
Have you heard me in the dim lit booths?
Welcome to our enlightened world,
there’s the bell, my friends ,dig the hole.
Get on, or get off the stage,
Don’t spoil our chance.
we are ‘ the poets ’ -we cannot wait

TFE, have tried to get on to your blog over the past few days but kept getting an 'Oops!no joy' message...: ) at last I'm here...good stuff going on - cool words and the like...and the tribute to Plath and Huges'son...gosh, how sad is that...I'm just a teeny bit younger than him...makes my hair stand on end...anyway talking about standing...I'm with one foot out the door and bound for Double-in town...maybe see you out and about snapping! I'll recognise Molly at least... ; )
cheers

I like the pome - it's asking to be read out very loud. I'd love to be heading up the the festival, but no such luck.

As for a bad poetry competition, do you think anyone'd go for it.
'Here's a shi*** poem I wrote.'? Hmmmmmmm

Nah! I loved the "jump on, wide-eyed innocent, if you dare" That woke me up Great! You have articulated my every, inner self-doubt coupled with that duplicitous craving to be acknowledged.

"coins, plaudits and rubbed shoulders"

Deep down would we ever admit to that tiny hankering to be the "Poet Laureate". Did I just say that?

Hi poetikat thanks for that.I really liked your poem about Nicholas Hughes-and written in such a short time too.Poet laureate, Mmm, I think I like the sound of that as King of Peoples republic(sic) of EEjit I think I might appoint one,or run a competition to find one.

Bring it on! It's more than likely the only shot I've got.
Thanks for reading the tribute and for your remark.
