THE POETRY BUS AND PRIZES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Were having a Hooley for Nooly. Next Friday Nuala Ní Chonchúir ( http://womenrulewriter.blogspot.com/ http://www.nualanichonchuir.com/ ) is visiting to celebrate her poetry book Portrait of the Artist with a Red Car

Everyone is invited but you must turn up in a RED CAR of your choice, the sky and your imagination are the limit.

Bring a famous guest or any guest and let us know. We're gonna have a sedate tootle through some beautiful Wicklow countryside then ask Nuala some questions about her poetry life and have a party. There's plenty of secure parking and Jimmy the Butler will ferry us back to the castle in the Chinook, so we can all get drunk as skunks.

Cook will have champagne hampers for every guest and there will be a vast (2 acre) inflatable see through marquee erected on the top of a hill encompassing the famous Mottee Stone landmark and providing 360 degree panoramic views of mountains and sea and heather.

There will be a free bar and buffet and a stage for live entertainment of music and poetry. If you want to be part of the entertainment just post a you tube clip in the comments box and I will put a link to it on the day.

Now if you don't want to drive then what better way to travel than on the newly refurbished BRIGHT RED Poetry Bus ably driven by Shirley Bassey. To get a trip on the bus you have to write a poem with the words RED CAR in it. Put it on yer blog and let me know in my commentsbox and I'll post links to them all as part of the day's festivities.

THERE WILL BE PRIZES!!

Nuala has kindly offered not one but TWO copies of her book as prizes. It's a beautiful, seeringly honest, shocking, sensuous, funny smorgesbord of brilliance. You'll love it.Write a poem as above or just post a message in my comments box with the words RED CAR in it and we'll put ye all into a huge hat and pull two of you out by the ears. The two lucky winners will receive personalised signed copies of Nuala's book.

The Poetry Bus will be leaving Fitzgeralds pub in Avoca at 11am, but if you want picking up from home (anywhere in the world) just let us now and Shirley will come and get ye.She might even sing while she drives.

You've thought of everything TFE - it's going to be a wonderful event. We used to have a RED CAR many moons ago, but have become very boring and sedate in our old age - it's a silver grey one now, and matches our hair!!

We're all going on a summer holiday. Can we invite Cliff Richard along? He can take over the driving from Shirley if she gets a bit squiffy. Can't wait, TFE!!

Count me in for the bus ride, TFE, get Shirley to stop at Little Johnny's (Juancito's) next to the biggest palm tree in the world. Johnny Depp's coming with me...he cannot resist the red bus trip, he is taking his scissor-arms with him in case anyone needs a last minute hair cut and the pirate outfit will be stuffed in his overnight bag for use in any unforeseen circumstances...can't wait for the champers basket...or is it a case or better still a basket case?? See you top of hill then...!

Wouldn't miss it! I've just written a poem and posted (just this minute) with a RED SILK DRESS, but no RED CAR.

I'll have to see if I can pull of the YouTube thing - I've only got my dang digital camera. It's okay if I don't speak.

Isn't there a Christy Moore song about the Wicklow Hills? Can I bring him as my escort or will he already be performing at the "do" in the enormous marquee? I have never seen the Wicklow Hills so shall have to make do with imagining the Mountains of Mourne I am afraid. Looking forward to Friday - 11am at the bus stop.
PS What has happened to the lesser celandines? They can't have died already, mine aren't even out yet!

I've been waiting at the stop for the poetry bus for quite a while now. I'm hungry. And I'm wet through. The snow was a tough couple of weeks to wait out. I do hope the fare hasn't gone up since last time. i only have an old button and a paper clip in my pocket.

Oh I've no patience TFE - forgive me for jumping the gun, I just got over excited what with having a poem with mention of a car and all already ready...

This sounds great! Do you need a non-poetry-writing audience?..am a bit disturbed by this week's title pic!

The first car I drove (legally) was a Rover 3.5 (V8) and it was a RED CAR. I can still remember the plate - EBJ 853T. Loved it until I went through a red light outside Olympia and smacked into a solicitor. Cried all the way home. Mainly at the thought of facing Dad.
Still, hope to create the requisite red car poem, but this is a busy, busy week so thought I'd tell the story just in case.

Always thought Shirley the better choice. If you remember.

Ah, this is an easy one since I do drive a RED CAR....my Jeep Liberty, which I have named "Cherries Jubilee." (I name all of my cars, you see.) Will post a pic of my CJ... which is not a CJ, ha! You know, CJ-7... another Jeep model... oh well... See you Friday then! Looking forward to this interview, TFE! And thanks for dropping by mine. Hope you enjoyed the hot buttered rum.

Will post poem later this week. Thanks for the nudge.

Who can I bring? 'Nurse Jackie' to keep us all on our meds?

My poem mentions 'red car' four times. Does this entitle me to a ride back from Wickler afterwards?

i'm working for the rest of the week so your red car is awaiting in the usual spot

Well, before seeing this I posted a piece with PICTURES of cars and verse but no mention of "red" or "car", so I guess that means I had my ticket but just missed the bus.
