POETRY BUS STUFF AND TING

Very well done und muchlio merci to Booker prize winner and beneficent broadcaster Niamh who set a deadlio PB task and drove like a demon at the same time. Tanks also to all you passengers out there who took the time trouble and no little talent to climb aboard and write or just read the poems. The Bus is but a howling lonesome void without you. The bus is a double-decker so new passengos are always most welcome. You don't even have to wipe yer feet.

Niamh has now officially handed over the starting handle to Pure Fiction who has set up an interesting atmospheric spiritual journey for us for next monday.Get thee hither ,thither or yon to her blog pronto and immerse yourself in the ambience before embarking on this sure to be epic adventure into the deeply deadly magical mystical world of words and buses and brake pads.
Stuff a joss stick up your hooter and go with the rainbow.

Technical note: Do you see the rather impressive way Pure Fiction is written above in magic clickyable writing? Argent taught me how to do that and now I will conquer the world. So thank/blame her.

And did you know that if you insert

target=_blank

between the web address in inverted commas and the closing spikey bracket, it opens the link in a new tab? That way they open the new page as well as yours, not instead of. The clicker opens the new page -wothout being taken away from your blog.

I read these things still can't do them. And how do people get clips of things in their blogs?

Oops, off the point. Pure Fiction's challenge scares me!

Is that a tree or an octopus (and an ill-intentioned octopus at that)?

Actually, to be technically correct the _blank needs to be quoted, thusly: target="_blank"
(Blogger may not care currently, but if they adopt strict XHTML standards at some point in future it'll be an issue)
You can also add title="some text or other" if you want one of those nifty floaty boxes to appear when the mouse hovers over the link. And for all you Technorati lovin' eejits, adding rel="tag" will also boost the Technorati rating of the thing you're linking to by a smidgeon. Which doesn't help you directly except by means of building goodwill. And who couldn't use more of that, yeah?

Now if you want to get really slick, instead of text for a link, you can put an img tag in between the <a href= etc etc> and the </a>. (And yeah, the slash before the closing bracket at the end is significant. But if you leave it out Blogger will let you know. I think.) So your link is worth a thousand words. There's all kinds of options for an img tag, but the basics are:
<img src="the URL of the picture" /> Everything else is pretty much optional, but if you don't give it the "src" attribute it doesn't know what to display.
You can get the URL of the picture (usually) by right clicking on it and selecting "Copy Image Location" or "Copy Shortcut" or whatever language your particular browser uses.

But I must applaud your mad skillz at mixing metaphors in three different languages in the opening of this post before I go. Masterful job!

A political statement, tempest in a teapot, and exposed roots (so sensuous, those roots are!) I'm dizzy with delight!

This one's hard, I think. How to translate that? Ah, can't win them all, so I'll just try!

Well titus I get my clips from you tube. They have thigs (codes?) you can embed in your html post.

That almost sounds like I know what I'm talking about, which I don't, but it is easy to do.

PF's task migh prove a wee bit trickier.Which is good!
